Message to the Media

PGA TOUR Champions
Welcome to the 2018 PGA TOUR Champions season. On behalf of our players, staff, tournaments and sponsors, we would like to thank the members of the media for the coverage you provide. We look forward to working with you in the year ahead.

Last year, Kevin Sutherland became just the third player to win the Charles Schwab Cup Championship and the Charles Schwab Cup in the same season. His breakthrough win at the season-ending event was the first of his PGA TOUR Champions career, and it was enough for him to surpass Bernhard Langer, who had won the Charles Schwab Cup the previous three years. It was an exciting conclusion to the second-annual Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, and the three-event, season-ending series returns in 2018. Comprised of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, PowerShares QQQ Championship and Charles Schwab Cup Championship, the field will again reduce from 72 to 54 to 36 players, with the conclusion giving way to the 2018 Charles Schwab Cup champion.

Our television partners will broadcast each event, with Golf Channel airing coverage of most tournaments. Three events will have network coverage: The KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship (NBC), U.S. Senior Open (FOX) and The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex (NBC).

In 2018, we welcome PGA TOUR winners such as Darren Clarke, Chris DiMarco, Dudley Hart and Brent Geiberger to PGA TOUR Champions as they compete alongside established stars Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Fred Couples and John Daly. Thirty-five members of PGA TOUR Champions are also members of the World Golf Hall of Fame, many of whom are still active on Tour.

Our players are committed to making each tournament week rewarding and enjoyable and they pride themselves on their accessibility and interaction with the media, sponsors and fans. That commitment also extends off the course, with many players and their spouses involved with charitable initiatives of their own – along with those charitable endeavors in the communities served by our tournaments each week.

The extensive charitable mission of the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions and Web.com Tour makes a significant impact in communities across the country and we appreciate your efforts in conveying to your readers and viewers how our tournaments continue to generate charitable contributions that touch the lives of so many people.

The digital version of the PGA TOUR Champions Media Guide can be accessed via www.pgatourmedia.com, along with more information, such as the media credential application process, for each specific event of the 2018 season.

We appreciate your continued support of PGA TOUR Champions. The Communications staff at PGA TOUR Headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, as well as our Communications staff on site at each tournament, are ready to assist you with your interview and informational requests. Enjoy the season.
