Definitions


Special Temporary Member:

A non-member of the PGA TOUR who wins an amount of official money, when combined with money earned in official money World Golf Championships events, equal to or greater than the amount won by the 150th finisher on the previous year’s Official PGA TOUR Money List. He must join within 60 days after becoming eligible. The non-member is eligible to receive a maximum of seven Sponsor Exemptions before reaching Special Temporary Member status and unlimited Sponsor Exemptions thereafter.


World Golf Championships money:

Money earned by players who are members of the PGA TOUR at the beginning of the year and by those who become Regular Members during the year (win an event or earn an immediate promotion by winning three times on the Web.com Tour) in official World Golf Championships events (World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play Championship, World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship) will be included on the Official PGA TOUR Money List. Any money won in World Golf Championships events prior to a player becoming a member during the season will not count towards the Official PGA TOUR Money List. Also, prize money earned by a non-member or Special Temporary Member in an official World Golf Championships event will be deemed not to be official and will not be included on the Official PGA TOUR Money List or Official PGA TOUR Career Money List.

Use Non-member Money List to determine:

Eligibility for Invitationals (i.e., Arnold Palmer Invitational, DEAN & DELUCA Invitational, the Memorial)
Moving from Category 3 to Category 2 for groupings purposes (three times a year)

Use Non-member Money plus World Golf Championships Earnings List to determine:

Special Temporary Membership
Membership for Next Year (Top 125 Non-member Category)
Qualifying Tournament Exemption into Final Stage

Voting Member:

A non-voting member can become a voting member by playing in at least 15 PGA TOUR co-sponsored or approved tournaments in a calendar year. He must play in at least 15 PGA TOUR co-sponsored or approved tournaments in each calendar year to retain voting membership. He must also attend at least one player meeting designated by the PGA TOUR during each calendar year

Rookie Eligibility:

A player’s rookie year is defined as the year in which he becomes a PGA TOUR member (including Special Temporary Members) and plays in 10 or more events as a member or finishes in the Top 125 as a member on the Official PGA TOUR Money List, whichever occurs first. PGA TOUR members who have played in at least 15 official money tournaments vote on the PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Award at the end of the official money season. Players are nominated for the award by the Players Advisory Council

Web.com Tour Alumnus/Graduate:

A Web.com Tour alumnus is a player who has played a minimum of seven events during a particular Web.com Tour season. A Web.com Tour graduate is a player who qualified for the PGA TOUR via the Web.com Tour
Tee Time Categories:

Category 1:
  • PGA TOUR members currently in a tournament winners category. Non-members, who if they were members, would be in a tournament winners category
  • PGA TOUR Life Members (member for 15 years and won 20 events)
  • Top 25 on Official PGA TOUR Career Money List through the end of the preceding year
  • Players within the top 20 positions on the current FedExCup Points List, starting with the event following the U.S. Open
  • Players within the top 20 positions on the current Official World Golf Ranking
  • One player, on a weekly basis, not otherwise eligible for this category

Category 1A:
  • Tournament winners whose victories were considered official that no longer qualify for groupings category 1 and who played in five or more PGA TOUR co-sponsored or approved events or 10 or more combined PGA TOUR , PGA TOUR Champions and Web.com Tour co-sponsored events in previous year
  • Former winners of THE PLAYERS Championship, Masters Tournament, U.S. Open, The Open Championship and PGA Championship who no longer qualify for category 1

Category 2:
  • PGA TOUR members who play out of the Top 125 and Top 125 Non-members categories
  • Players with 50 or more career cuts made in official money PGA TOUR co-sponsored or approved tournaments who played in five or more PGA TOUR co-sponsored or approved events or 10 or more combined PGA TOUR , Champions Tour and Web.com Tour co-sponsored events in the previous year
  • Players within the top 21-50 on the current Official World Golf Ranking

Category 3:
  • All others

Tournament Exemptions
Finishing at a certain point on the final PGA TOUR Money List gains exemptions into other future events as follows

Top 30Masters (also FedExCup Top 30*)
Top 70Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard
the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide
Top 80DEAN & DELUCA Invitational
Top 125PGA TOUR card

* U.S. Open and The Open Championship also use the top 30 from the previous year’s FedExCup points list.
